Course description

Aims of the course:
To respond to a set theme through the exploration of different photographic media, techniques and processes.
To explore relevant images, resources and artists relevant to Photography and Art and Design and to respond to these through practical and critical outcomes, which demonstrate an understanding of different styles, theories genres.

Course content:
Students will develop a practical and critical understanding of lighting, composition, depth of field, time based techniques, Photoshop, visual language and contextual analysis of Photography. Students will respond to a given theme through; research, response and analysis of different Artists and Photographers, experimentation of different practical Art and Photographic techniques and development of ideas. For both the coursework and the exam, students will produce a portfolio of work and a minimum of one final outcome that answers the given theme.

Entry requirements

5 A-C grades at GCSE, including a C in English Language.
