Music Technology - AS/A2 Level at Q3 Academy

Course description

Music Technology is essentially the study of how to use a recording studio and the equipment you would expect to find a modern recording facility. It also involves studying how to sequence music and use professional sequencing software.

Course content

The course had 3 elements: 1 - Recording: students will record 'live' musicians and produce two CD's over the two years of the course.2. Sequencing: students will create 'virtual' performances using a sequence package and will create 'backing tracks' for musicians to record with.3. Listening: Students will study the development of popular music with particular reference to the advancement of recording techniques.

Entry requirements

Students will need to have gained a minimum of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE.A  minimum of Grade B at GCSE in music or an equivalent level of musicianship is required.


Assessment is through performing, composition and portfolio
