Music (Technology) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Walsall College

Course description

By studying the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music (Technology) you will learn a wide range of technical skills, how to use specialist digital recording technology in the fully equipped Music Academy, master your own composition and work in group to support live events.

You will love taking part in live performances as technical support for sound and lighting, using the recording studio, producing music and creating sound effects for video, visits by industry experts and real musicians, as well as trips to local and European music and cultural venues.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades C or above including English Language. Or a Level 2 related qualification. All applicants will need to attend an interview during which you should be able to present and discuss any examples of recording /music sequencing that you have completed, or any experience of using music technology in a range of performance environments.

Assessment

Assessment for this course is through practical and written projects, regular tutorial sessions to monitor your progress and study units from event management to world music.

Future opportunities

HNC/D in Music (Production), employment or university degree.
