Food Technology FDQ Diploma Level 3 at Duchy College

Course description

This course is for learners who wish to pursue a career in the food sector.  Learners may study by full time or part time study.

Course content

The course is a mixture of under-pinning knowledge and practical application.  You will study the raw materials of the food industry as well as how to make a wide range of foods from cheese to bread and sausages to tomato ketchup.  You will also learn how to ensure these foods are legally compliant and be involved in managing the production process.

Assessment is by a wide range of methods including portfolio of practical reports, assignments, in-class tests and presentations to peers.

Entry requirements

4 GCSE grades A-C; Level 2 NVQ; BTEC Level 2 Certificate or Diploma

Mature learners considering a change of career may also apply

Future opportunities

Successful learners could pursue a career as a food technologist, with jobs such as product development, quality assurance technician, production supervisor or similar.  Equally further study is available through the FdSc Food Studies available at the College and then a one year top-up to BSc Hons, also at Duchy College.
