Hairdressing (QCF) Level 2 Diploma at College of North West London (FE)

Course description

High levels of knowledge, technical ability and creativity are needed to pursue a career in this industry. The profession offers qualified hairdressers the flexibility to be self-employed and run their own businesses. Our students are national and regional award winners, testimony to the quality of teaching and training facilities we provide

Course content

Subjects you will study include dressing hair, consultation, cutting, colouring, shampooing and conditioning, and health and safety. All students will have the opportunity to gain an additional qualification in African Caribbean hairdressing. If you are 16-19 you will also study Functional Skills in English.

Entry requirements

You will need English and Maths skills at Level 1. If you do not have evidence of your English and Maths levels you will be given an online English and Maths assessment after you submit your application. You may also be asked to complete a piece of free writing or a vocational assessment. If you meet the entry requirements you will then be offered an interview with a tutor to discuss the course.

Assessment

You will be assessed through written examinations combined with assignments/projects and oral questions. The practical assessment will take place in the College's Salon. It is advisable for you to find work for at least one day a week in a high street salon.
