GCE Art & Design - Fine Art,  AS

Course content

The emphasis in this course is learning by doing, so you’ll be able 
to create imaginative personal work. In the first year you will 
produce a Portfolio of coursework selected by you through working 
both in school and out of school in galleries and worskhops. 
You will develop new skills with drawing, painting, 3D, printing, 
installation and digital technologies. You will be marked against 
four assessment criteria, covering recording ideas, contextual 
references, experimentation, and presenting a personal response. 
For the externally set task, you will create ideas in response to one 
of 5 exciting starting points introduced in February and running
until May. You will produce a 5 hour timed piece that is done  
as a full day during the unit.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements: At least 5 A*-C grade GCSEs, or at least one grade A* - B or equivalent  in an Art GCSE/Btec subject



Coursework portfolio 50% Sep - Jan

externally set task 50% of final AS grade Feb - May.


Unit 3 personaln investigation 50% July - Jan

Unit 4 externally set task 50% Feb - May.
