Performing Arts L3 National Diploma (double) at Northfleet School for Girls

Course description

Students will develop their technical
and performance skills in their
chosen performing arts specialisms,
as well as their creative skills
during devising and choreographic
projects. Students will study current
practitioners and their working
methods and techniques, as well as
developing their written analytical
The course is not only designed
for students who enjoy Performing
Arts and wish to take the subject
onto higher education, but also
for students who wish to develop
their communication and creative
skills and are interested in a range
of creative careers as well as
teaching. The course is varied and
provides excellent opportunities for
students to develop their teamwork
and organisational skills, work to
deadlines and gain an insight into
the creative industries.

Course content

There are 6 mandatory units, 3 of
which are externally assessed (46%
external assessment) and 3 units
are internally assessed through
coursework. Students also choose 2
further optional units which are also
internally assessed.

2 Developing Skills and Techniques
for Live Performance (Internal)
3 Group Performance Workshop
4 Performing Arts in the Community
5 Individual Performance
Commission (External)
6 Final Live Performance to an
Audience (Internal)
There are a range of optional units
in Dance and Drama to choose from
which are creative and performance

Entry requirements

5 9-4 grades at GCSE,
BTEC Level 2 First Award in
Performing Arts or equivalent
at Merit level

Future opportunities

Students could go onto study
Performing Arts at University
as well as vocational training in
Dance/Drama. Students who have
completed this course have worked
on cruise ships, in small scale
theatres as well as teaching in state
schools and working in the Media
