Extended Learning Programme at Invicta Grammar School
The Extended Learning Programme enables students to tailor their learning within the Sixth Form around their talents and own areas of interest, specifically aimed towards individual personal development. Taking on additional programmes of study outside the main curriculum offer enhances individual CVs and personal profiles.
A popular choice is the EPQ or the Extended Project Qualification. Details of this course are given overleaf. The EPQ is one of the components required for the AQA BACCALAUREATE.
• The AQA Baccalaureate, known as the AQA BACC celebrates the achievements of well-rounded post-16 students. The AQA Bacc comprises four elements which together demonstrate that students have achieved success in terms of A Levels and wider learning and enrichment activities.
• Depth of study is represented by GCE A Levels.
• Independent learning is demonstrated through the completion of an Extended Project.
• Students achieve personal development through enrichment activities which includes community work and work experience.
This overarching qualification is graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction and recognises the wider involvement of students during their time within the Sixth Form.
An after school lecture programme has been developed to provide an experience of higher education, to develop a wider knowledge base and to extend thinking in preparation for university and employment. Visiting speakers and external organisations provide lectures to students to encourage them to debate, analyse and evaluate at a higher level.
