BTEC Level 3: Applied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Ashby School

Course description

This course is the perfect marriage of Engineering and Electronics in a constantly changing and developing technological world. It will appeal to students interested in modern manufacturing and driven by the ever changing world of Engineering, Electronics and Design. For them, this course is the ideal start to the next level of education and a prosperous career. In Year 12, students will study the following: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace Mechanical Principles and Applications Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits Mathematics for Engineering Technicians Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials Computer Aided Manufacturing

Entry requirements

For all Sixth Form courses, students must have five GCSE (or equivalent) passes at grades A* to C, in at least four different subjects, including Mathematics and English. Students wishing to study this course at Advanced level must also have a C in a Design and Technology subject.

This course is ideal for students looking for a career in the fields of Engineering and/ or Electronics. This course gives an excellent introduction to careers in these areas and will inspire the next generation of highly skilled young engineers to carry on the tradition of the world renowned innovators this country is famed for producing.Students can take this course to complement other advanced level courses. This could lead to higher education, BTEC Higher Nationals or NVQ levels 3 and 4 in area of Engineering and Electronics-based studies.
