Exercise and Fitness Level 2 Apprenticeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well-motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over. 

Course content

• Employment, for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace • Assessor visits in the workplace to conduct progress reviews and assessments • Functional Skills Level 1 or 2 • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

The Apprenticeship covers five qualifications: • NCFE Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Instructing Exercise and Fitness – Competence qualification • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing – Knowledge qualification • NCFE Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning • Functional Skills in maths and English if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C within the last 5 years or Functional Skill Level 2 within the last 3 years.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Relevant work experience will also be considered Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed in the workplace and college by portfolio building, practical assessments, presentations and online & written exams. 

Financial information

Apprenticeship training is currently fully funded, however this is subject to entry criteria and may change in the future.

Further information

On completion of this course you will receive a Level 2 Apprenticeship Certificate including the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Instructing Exercise and Fitness, a technical certificate in Fitness Instruction, an Employment Awareness Level 2 award and Functional Skills in Maths and English.
