Art & Design (Graphic Design) BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Swindon College

Course description

This course will help you develop your practical skills within a range of art and design specialist areas. During the first year of the course you will be introduced to some of the materials, techniques and processes associated with Fine Art, Photography, Graphic Design and Fashion and Textiles, developing practical skills across the range. In addition to this you will expand your contextual understanding of Art and Design and develop your research skills.

During the second year of the course you will specialise in Graphic Design. It is all about visual communication, combining ideas, words and images to convey information to an audience. This course will offer you an opportunity to combine specialist knowledge, practical skills and creativity to produce a range of graphic design outcomes in response to set briefs. By exploring traditional hand skills and learning to use industry-standard software (including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design) you will develop your own individual visual language and create an exciting portfolio of creative graphic work.
