AS/A2 Applied ICT at Queen Elizabeth School
Attention all alpha geeks, anoraks and nerds. Here’s a special message just for you: stop reading this right now and go back to playing on your PC because this course is so not for you. Bye bye.
Attention all textphobics who are already sick of reading all this stuff. Here’s the executive summary just for you. Do this course and you get a double whammy: the chance to develop advanced practical ICT skills while shooting for an A grade at AS or A2 that’s assessed mostly on portfolio work. That’s it – see you in September.
Right. Now the rest of us can settle down and take a more in-depth look at our ICT course and why it’s the right choice for you in Sixth Form…
The GCE in Applied ICT is one of a family of vocationally-focused GCEs. It is ideal if you do not want to take a purely academic-style GCE. You get the best of both worlds by gaining a respected GCE qualification that encompasses a ’real-world’ vocational approach, making it rather different from many other AS and A2 courses at QES.
Instead of burying our heads in textbooks for two years, we look at real applications. You will look outside of school to study ICT in action in the “real world”. You will be taught to dissect real business documents to see how they help companies tick. And you will produce your own practical work of a professional quality to match those of any real business.
