Academy - Derby County Education and Football at Derby College
The Derby County Community Trust Education and Football programme gives aspiring young footballers the opportunity to develop their 11-a-side football skills while studying academic qualifications in Sport to enhance their career prospects.
The College’s partnership with the award-winning DCCT enables learners to benefit from the expertise of highly qualified and respected coaches, which enhances the football-focussed curriculum.
Training sessions and competitive fixtures are carried out alongside your main programme of study.
The Academy includes:
- A dedicated training calendar
- Opportunities to progress to elite level pathways
- Access to AoC Sport regional and national trials
- A comprehensive competitions programme
- Technical and tactical coaching
- Psychological, physiological and lifestyle management
- Strength and conditioning support
Applications are welcomed from individuals who regularly participate in football and who show a desire and willingness to develop their sporting performance.
Entry to the Level 3 Diploma in Sport requires candidates to have a minimum of five GCSEs at A*- C grades (including English and Maths).
Learners may also be able to access the DCCT Education and Football programme by studying at Level 2 or A-levels, depending on if the timetable fits in with training sessions and fixtures. However any GCSE resit requirements will take priority
over your access to training.
Assessment on the study programme will be continuous over the year. Assessment methods will vary depending on the subjects delivered. See our
Sports Coaching and Development pages for further details.
On successful completion of the course, learners may wish to progress to the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at Derby College or to seek
employment within the sport and leisure sector.
