IMI Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair at Trafford College

Course description

The course consists of a mix of theory training with 4 on-line tests and a number of practical tasks on Advanced Chassis; Braking; Transmission and Electrical Systems. A portfolio of evidence is required which supports the tasks undertaken. The course is aimed at the diagnostic aspect of the vehicles and builds upon the knowledge gained at Levels 1 and 2.

Entry requirements

A Level 2 Certificate (IMI) is a pre-requisite to this qualification and a successful interview.


Assessments are via 4 theory tests which are taken on-line through the IMI website. Practical tasks are assessed in the workshop area with the portfolio of evidence submitted as proof of meeting the standards.
