Drama and Theatre Studies AS/A Level at Godalming College

Course description

The course aims to develop your understanding and your interpretation of theatre and drama as a product and as powerful tools in the examination of human interaction. In the AS year you will work holistically, drawing together your creative, analytical and artistic skills to present and analyse play texts practically as a performer or designer, and to develop your understanding of the social and historical context of drama and theatre in performance. Through weekly professional practice workshops you will also hone your performance skills and advance your craft.

These skills are evolved in the second year through the extensive development and presentation of your own work in performance. You will also explore texts as a director and as an audience. Regular theatre visits are a vital part of this course. We are a department of collaboration, creation and innovation and as a drama student you will be involved in the lively artistic life of the College as a ClassAction practitioner.

Students from this course have been successful in progressing to Bristol Old Vic, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Lamda, GSA, East 15, Drama Centre, Mountview, Arts Ed, Birds, Performers, LABAN, The Place.
