Sociology A Level at Berwick Academy

Course description

Sociology is a very popular A Level course, which develops student's knowledge and understanding about how society functions and the role of core elements such as education, the family and religion. 

You will learn about how individuals form a sense of 'identity', the role of the family and what happens when family structures break down. Additionally, you will study the role and purpose of education in society, educational underachievement and the development of educational policies. Research methods will give you a grounding in methodologies that can be applied to all social science subjects at A level and undergraduate Level.

GCSE English at Grade C

Future opportunities

The study of Sociology develops your critical thinking skills. It also developed extended writing and the ability to analyse. All of these skills are highly valued by universities. Many degree courses are available in Sociology, Politics, Criminology and related subjects.
