LEVEL 2 STATISTICS

Course content

Statistics is a very useful subject for all students and has direct application in business studies, public services, humanities, ICT and science. It is particularly important for students taking Biology at A level. It is an ideal option for students wishing to develop their mathematical know-how further, but not wanting to undertake a level 3 Mathematics course.

Students will study the full data cycle: planning and collection of data, processing, representing and analysis of data, and reasoning, interpreting and discussing results. Students will also study probability.

 

Assessment

Examination:

2 hours. Represents 75% of the final mark. Questions are set in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts based on standard statistical techniques, diagrams and probability.

Controlled Assessment:

Represents 25% of the final mark.

Task is provided by Edexcel, but student is able to personalised their assessment.

Career opportunities

Commerce, business, accountancy, banking, government and public services, science based careers, engineering, ICT, marketing and management.
