Product Design GCSE at The Beacon School
The course is similar to both Graphic Products and Resistant Materials with the key difference being the freedom of choice in relation to the materials or media used by the individual. The emphasis of the course is on commercial products and their associated design, manufacturing and marketing requirements. Students conduct investigations on products of their own choosing and are taught about a range of products and processes and the manner in which they have been developed over time to best suit their purpose.
You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Design and Technology or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to Design and Technology and Electronics such as an Technician, Electrician or Design Engineer. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
