Music Technology A-Level at Windsor High School and Sixth Form

Course description

Music technology plays a vital role in music production all over the world. This course is designed to cover all aspects of the technology of music production and the development of music in the twentieth century; it is built to be stimulating and rewarding for students.

The course provides an environment where students can develop a wide range of production and technological skills. It will encourage students including those who do not play a traditional instrument to explore their musicality and create original materials using technology.

Throughout this course students will have the opportunity to develop their musical skills to a high level through the practice of creating music through the use of technology and through listening and analysing to music from a wide range of sources. Edexcel's music technology course covers aspects of recreating and recording music and the listening and analysis of music to create a well-rounded and knowledgeable student adept in many forms of music technology.

Entry requirements

Students need to demonstrate evidence of a positive, self-motivated approach to learning and a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above in five different subject areas (including English and Maths).
