Course description

Are you curious about how social change can be explained, and what research and policy tells us about how society works and how we experience life? Sociology is the study of society and will give you a fascinating insight into how human actions are shaped by cultural and social structures. Key topics you will cover include:

Course content

Sociology sees you exploring some controversial and often challenging topics. During lessons your thoughts will be stretched and challenged, and you are likely to continue thinking outside of the classroom. Our qualified and experienced teaching staff will help you to debate key sociological issues such as poverty, crime and social conflict. This is an inspiring subject that will change your views on the world around you.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 in GCSE English Language and grade 4 in a traditional written subject, for example GCSE History or English Literature.

Sociology is a subject linking to a wide range of careers and degrees. You could progress to careers in areas such as Social Work, Law, Teaching or Policing. It is a great subject for any career working with people!
