Product Design: Graphic Products at The Fallibroome Academy

Course description

This course is a natural extension to the Graphics and Resistant Materials GCSEs. It offers a real opportunity to develop your thinking and creativity skills. You’ll find lessons engaging as you are challenged to think about solutions to real life design problems and consider the power that you, as a designer, has to improve peoples’ daily lives.
Teaching is carried out with passion and this same passion is encouraged from our students. Although some students opt for the subject purely because they have enjoyed it at GCSE, a large percentage already know that a career in the design or engineering field is for them.
The course has been designed so that it can be tailored to the particular area of design you wish to work in, from graphic design to architecture and 3D product design. The department has excellent contacts with local industry, such as Jaguar Land Rover and Siemens. Students take part in visits to company factories to see what they are learning in the classroom in action. There are also opportunities to work alongside professional designers on live projects.
Subjects that compliment this course include Art and Business Studies.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in GCSE Electronics, Resistant Materials, or Graphic Products.
Students who have not studied a Design and Technology subject at GCSE may be considered having achieved grade B or above in the Single Sciences or Additional and Core Science.
