Course content

Now that you have completed level 2 in Fine Furniture yet you want to arm yourself with more knowledge before you enter the workplace as a qualified furniture maker. The City and Guilds Level 3 course will help you achieve just that. A natural follow on from the level 2 course, the level 3 will teach you about machinery, designing upholstery and French polishing as well as allowing you to further develop your skills through practice. This course is for the dedicated fine furniture professional that is looking to make a mark in the industry. Being a successful fine furniture maker requires total dedication to the work. During July you will get the opportunity to showcase your work to fellow students, industry experts and the general public.

You should have successfully completed the Fine Furniture Diploma City and Guilds level 2

Future opportunities

As part of the course, each student will be encouraged to design their own pieces and develop a unique style. This experience will help set you up for employment in the future. You may also wish to consider further study at Higher Education level.

Further information

Student will need to provide some of their own materials but this will be discussed at the start of the course. You will need suitable protective clothing and steel toe-capped shoes or boots. You may also be expected to pay for entrance fees to some industry shows, but full details will be given to you at the beginning of the course.
