Engineering and Technology Level One Certificate at East Riding College

Course description

This qualification gives successful learners a broad introduction to the practices and processes of engineering technology. It takes a hands-on approach to basic engineering training, allowing successful learners to gain: experience and understanding of a range of potential careers in the sector a stepping stone to further study and skills development the personal skills to work effectively and achieve their potential. 

Course content

You will have options to cover the practical skills and underpinning knowledge on

  •    Welding and fabrication
  •    Marine engineering
  •    Motorcycle engineering
  •    Electrical engineering
  •    Manufacturing engineering
  •    Electronic engineering 

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of two GCSEs with one in mathematicss or science
  • A successful interview demonstrating motivation and commitment to the course
  • An initial assessment

Assessment

You will be assessed by a range of techniques to include, observation of carrying out practical activities in workshops, oral questioning, written reports and on line testing

Future opportunities

This qualification helps you go on to more advanced courses such as the Level Two Engineering and Technology Diploma.

It could also help you secure an apprenticeship or advanced apprenticeship within an engineering company and improve your career prospects.
