Four GCSEs at grade D or above or a relevant level 1 qualification. Maths and English are desirable at 3 (grade D) GCSE; if these are not present, their study will continue throughout the course. We also expect to see a portfolio of art or games design ideas at interview and you may be asked to write a short review of a computer game that you have played.
Learners receive feedback on all their work via our online virtual learning environment and through one- to-one tutorials. They also have tangible experience of completing computer games, which are then played and receive feedback from the public at the end of year show.
Successful leaners can progress to study level 3 Computer Games Design or onto other courses at Level 3. Some more successful learners may find entry level employment in the industry.
Learners may ultimately wish to pursue careers in games design. The course is also a good grounding for all kinds of multimedia and media career paths. Communication, confidence, creative thinking and teamwork are all skills developed on the course that are transferable to a broad range of employment opportunities.
