Philosophy and Ethics at Little Heath School

Course description

Studying Philosophy of Religion and Religious Ethics at A Level gives you a broad insight into the development of philosophical thought that extends from Plato through to thinkers such as Thomas Aquinas, David Hume, Ludwig Wittgenstein and many others.

You will be able to see how human beings have attempted to make sense of the universe, asked questions about the nature and meaning of existence and struggled with questions about right and wrong.These philosophical and ethical theories are then applied to issues such as war and peace, abor tion and genetic engineering.

If you enjoy being challenged intellectually, evaluating ideas and thinking deeply then A Level Philosophy and Ethics is for you!

Entry requirements

You should gain five Grade A* - C GCSE passes including a minimum of a Grade C in GCSE English. A GCSE in Religious Studies would be useful but not essential.The Religious Education Department are happy to be flexible about these requirements.
