Physics Level 3 at North Hykeham Joint Sixth form

Course description

Physics gives the answers to many fundamental questions. Our range of study takes us from the vastness of the universe to deep inside a single atom. Physical principles are introduced to develop understanding of the issues. Practical work will reinforce learning and develop necessary skills. In Year 12, this course is comprised of three mandatory units: Mechanics; Electrons, waves and photons and Practical skills in Physics. The practical skills are assessed by teaching staff while you complete three tasks set by the exam board. A further three mandatory units, that are assessed in the same way, are then completed in Year 13. These units deal with The Newtonian World and Fields, particles and frontiers of Physics.

This is the right course for you if you want to broaden your curriculum and further develop your interest and enthusiasm for this subject after GCSE. You must also be prepared to deal with the mathematical demands of this course.
