Media Studies A Level at Pensby High School

Course description

This is a lively course that offers you the opportunity to explore various media and how people or groups in society or the public eye are represented.

As well as deconstructing and analysing texts you will be able to apply the skills you learn in creating your own texts in the form of coursework assignments. This work is coupled with your examination and accounts for 50% of the final grade.

Course content

You will learn techniques necessary to analyse texts effectively. You will learn presentation skills and be able to constructively criticise the work of others. Through lots of practise you will be able to deconstruct texts efficiently and develop your higher order skills of reading and questioning.

Entry requirements

  • Grade B for GCSE Media Studies
  • Grade C for GCSE English

Assessment

50% coursework and 50% examination in both AS and A2
