FL Construction at Springboard Islington Trust

Course description

Learners undertake a variety of Carpentry & Joinery tasks to develop their hand skills and basic competence and work towards achieving an level 1 award. Learners who successfully complete the programme have the opportunity to progress to employment, an Apprenticeship or a level 2 course in Carpentry and Joinery. Additional support available: Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT, Dyslexia support, Personal and Social Development, Mentoring, Guidance and Jobsearch. Duration: The period of time learners spend on the course is based on their identified needs. The maximum length of stay is 40 weeks. Financial Support: Learners are entitled to a full Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) of £30 per week regardless of household income. Springboard Islington will support you in making your application for EMA.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required. However, learners need to be keen and enthusiastic and to demonstrate potential aptitude for Carpentry and Joinery.

Future opportunities

Learner's can work as joiners having completed this courseLearners who successfully complete the course can progress into an Apprentisceship programme in Painting and Deocrating, Carpentry, Plumbing, Ceramic Tiling, Electrical Installation and Brickword and plastering.
