Hairdressing Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bedford College
To be accepted onto this programme you will need to be working full time in a salon where you can gain the work based experience to support your training. This programme offers an opportunity to advance your creative skills acquired as a junior stylist. It is a one year course, following completion of Level 2.
You must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job role and have completed a Hairdressing City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma.
Candidates are expected to cover small "in class" tests per unit of the qualification which carry a 100% pass mark only & are completed through computer-based testing. These cover all theory aspects/knowledge. All practical assessments are carried out in the salon environment and are watched by a qualified assessing staff member. During salon working hours, a work based assessor will make many visits to continue the assessment process.
Progression from Level 3 to employment as a Hairdresser or Stylist or into higher education such as a Foundation Degree in Hairdressing or Salon Management or other programmes. Potential job roles: Stylist or Hairdresser carrying gout treatments including creatively cutting hair, colouring hair, colour correction, creatively styling and dressing hair, creating a variety of permed looks and providing hair extension services.
You will be required to pay for your uniform, equipment and a block head; the approximate cost of which will be £200. Full details will be explained to you on application. You will also need to be prepared to work on Saturdays, as most salons are closed on Sundays and Mondays. You will also be required to participate in the annual Hair & Beauty Show.
