Health and Social Care BTEC Diploma Level 2 at The Kingsway Academy

Course description

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is a fascinating and wide ranging course. It will prepare you for an industry in which there are lots of jobs. You will learn about how to meet the needs of service users - children and adults so that their health and well-being is as good as possible. One day a week will be spent in a work placement of your choice.

Course content

Here is a selection of the units you may study: Communication in Health and Social Care, Individual Rights in Health and Social Care, Individual Needs in Health and Social Care, Ensuring Safe Environments in Health and Social Care, Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care, Human Lifespan Development, The Impact of Diet on Health, Vocational Experience in a Health or Social Care setting

Entry requirements

GCSE grades D and E


Many of the units will be assessed by work related course work assignments. Each unit is graded as a pass, merit or distinction. To gain a minimum overall pass grade every unit must be passed. An overall pass grade is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A*- C.

Financial information


Future opportunities

There are lots of jobs in the care industry working in nurseries, residential homes or centres for the elderly or disabled. Alternately you can move onto Level 3 qualifications to prepare you for University where you could study nursing or teaching.
