Access to Further Education Level 1 at Hertford Regional College

Course description

This programme will cater for young people who are not quite ready for the full GCSE programme or other mainstream course but wish to develop and achieve qualifications in English, Maths and Employability.  A significant focus is placed upon the young person's next step in life, whether that is Employment, Apprenticeship or Further Education Training.  

Course content

This programme will include the following content:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Vocational Taster in Motor Vehicle, Construction, Hairdressing or Child Care
  • Employability and Personal Development
  • Expedition Leaders Award

Assessment

English and Maths are assessed through Exams.  All other qualifications are assessed through portfolio work.

Financial information

Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2016. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2016, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last three years, and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). However, fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £1500 tuition fee (this was the fee for 2015/16 and could be subject to change for 2016/17). You will be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee, materials fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable. For these costs please contact our Information Centre.

Future opportunities

This programme will enable you to apply for a further education programme, apprenticeship or employment.  You will also be able to apply for courses at Level 1 and above depending on your achievements during the year.

      310/311 from Waltham Cross     approx 50 minutes
      310/311 from Hertford                 approx 10 minutes

      Trains: The National Express East Anglia Service provides services from Ware station to London Liverpool Street, Tottenham Hale, Waltham Cross, Enfield Lock, Harlow, Sawbridgeworth, Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted.
