BTEC Diploma in Construction Level 1 at Burton and South Derbyshire College

Course description

This course is a Level 1 Construction qualification that allows prospective students to progress to the BTEC Diploma in Construction Level 2 qualification or, to enter into employment after its completion or apply for a place on a construction craft course.

Entry requirements

No formal academic requirements are required other than commitment to completion of the course. Evidence of an interest in construction and prior achievement in other areas required at interview.

Future opportunities

It is expected that the students will enter the Construction Industry at an Apprentice/trainee level in a craft or operative capacity.

The units have been structured to allow the student to achieve a ‘developing the trade skills’ qualification The following units are studied: • Starting work in construction • Working in construction • Developing skills and working safely in construction • Financial management • Social responsibility at work • Developing joinery skills • Developing trowel skills • Developing painting and decorating skills
