Course description

Chemistry is an ever-developing and important branch of Science. It is widely implemented across a broad range of everyday uses from the latest touch screen gadgets to the manufacture of modern life-saving medicines or the colour of paint. AS and A level Chemistry investigate and explain the scientific processes affecting our everyday lives. They promote the critical and logical thinking applicable to careers ranging from chemist to lawyer, pilot or doctor (and many more) .

Course content

Chemistry is a highly valued subject. It works well in conjunction with other Science subjec ts but is also complemented by Maths. A number of University courses list A level Chemistry as a pre-requisite, for example pharmacy, medicine, veterinary science and dentistry. Chemistry is a very challenging Science course and students must achieve at least a grade B in GCSE Chemistry or a grade B in both Core and Additional Science (with the Chemistry component modules also at grade B ) in order to meet the entry requirements.
