Creative Media at Glossopdale Community College

Course description

This course will focus on different areas of the creative media industry that employers and companies have identified as desirable skills in employees.
Each unit will offer a focused study into an important area of the industry. The idea behind this course to provide learners with the strongest opportunity for employment or movement in to Higher Education and provide skills that can be applied in all areas of media, film, photography and sound.
The course is made up of a variety of units which might include such things as communication skills for creative media production , pre-production techniques , editing techniques, animation, camera techniques, designing idents for TV, sound recording techniques , photography, music video production and writing for TV and film and broadcasting presentation techniques.
The course considers areas such as pitching ideas, checking and proof-reading written materials and conducting research for assignments or productions.
Presentation skills are of course, often an essential part of gaining employment in this very competitive industry. The skills developed through following this course are, therefore, highly transferable, being important in, for example, pitching an idea to a client or giving a presentation as a candidate for a job in the media industry.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade C or above in different subjects including English and Maths
