Level 1 Electrical at Leeds City College
This course is for people of any age and background who require the basic skills associated with electrical installation and have the aim of employment within the sector.
This course has a practical and theoretical approach which helps to build understanding of electrical installation practices.
Focus is placed on the growth of work place related abilities, methodologies and processes.
The qualification consists of seven units. The units of study are:
Structure of the construction industry
Fundamental safe working practices
Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
Site preparation for working in the construction industry
Electrical installation wiring and terminations
Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
Electrical science and technology
As well as studying on the Level 1 Diploma you will study GCSE / Functional Skills English and Maths at a level suitable to your individual needs. You will also undertake employability skills within the college.
This course is suitable for applicants that have GCSE Certificates that are between grade D to F in Mathematics and English.
Consideration may be given to applicants that are not able to produce formal certificates, but who can demonstrate the equivalent understanding and knowledge.
If you are under 19 and you do not already have English & Maths GCSE grades A-C or equivalent you will be required to undertake GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your main qualification.
Assessment of achievement is primarily through the compilation of theory and practical assessments. Practical tasks in the workshop environment will assist and enforce learning
This course offers successful candidates the opportunity for prograession to the Level 2 City & Guilds 2365 Diploma in Electrical Installation.
Progression to the next level of study will be by successful completion of a department assessment covering the main topics taught in the Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation.
