Plumbing Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship at New College Durham

Course description

This course requires day release attendance at College.  You will be employed and working as an Apprentice Plumber.  You will gain evidence from your place of work which will go towards the achievement of your Apprenticeship.

Course content

Your Apprenticeship is achieved in three ways: College Day Release. on college days, you will study many things, which will include teaching and learning in core plumbing subjects. This will be assessed by online tests, practical workshop assessments and a plumbing assignment. When the core units are completed there are two more optional units available to complete. These are, Gas route or Environmental route. Both are assessed by written papers and practical assessment.On Site Work. Work based assessment must be completed to achieve the units required for the gas route.   Your Apprenticeship Framework is made up of various components. These include: • Functional Skills – you may need to complete a Functional Skill qualification in Application of Number and Communication. However, depending upon your GCSE grades this may not be necessary. • While attending College you will also complete other aspects of the Apprenticeship Framework. The Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship normally lasts two years, but an exact course duration will be agreed with you at the beginning of the programme. There will be no fee to you as an Apprentice. However, there will be a fee to your employer.   You will be required to provide a portfolio, which will include evidence of written projects and assessments.  Evidence from your workplace may include photographs of your work and/or signed testimonies from your employer or supervisor. 

Entry requirements

Entry qualifications are a 6219 Level 2 Technical Certificate in Plumbing Skills and a 6089 NVQ in Plumbing.
