Sport BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Grantham College

Course description

BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness courses are practical, work-related courses. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students will study the BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Year 1 and upon successful completion of this will progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma which is equivalent to to 2 and 3 A-Levels respectively.

Subjects covered include:

  • Instructing Physical Activity
  • Practical Individual Sport
  • Sports Injuries
  • Work Experience
  • Rules & Regulations
  • Sports Coaching

As well as these subjects, you will be required to continue to study English & maths as part of your course, if you have not achieved a grade C or above at GCSE

Course content

This course will be delivered in the first year as a one year Subsidiary Diploma and if relevant grades are met learners will continue onto the Level 3 Diploma in their second year.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (Grade C or above including Maths or English) or a Merit in a sports related Level 2 Diploma.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course you can go on to work in the sport and leisure industry. There is also an opportunity for progression on to the HNC/HND in Sports Coaching at Grantham College.
