AS - Textiles Technology at Chase Terrace Technology College

Course description

A two year course which combines - practical textiles - design development and creativity - a scientific understanding of fibres & fabrics - an awareness of the textile and fashion industry Students undertake practical coursework and are expected to develop a thorough understanding of their raw materials, components, textile processes, product analysis and industrial practices. Many students successfully combine this subject with Art and progress onto degree related courses. Students can also take the 1 year AS Level course in Year 13.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Art and Design and Computing or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Design and Technology, which could lead onto higher education in areas of and design, technology, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to design and technology such as an Architect, Carpenter or Computer Technician. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
