Health and Social Care A Level at Bitterne Park School

Course description

This is an AS/A2 course with a strong link between theory and practice in Health and Social Care providing you with contact and developing a greater understanding of the health, social and early years care services.

The course runs over 2 years; the units covered are:


  • Unit 1 (portfolio) Effective Care and Communication
  • Unit 3 (exam) Life as a challenge


  • Unit 6 – Practitioner Roles
  • Unit 10 – Diagnosis, treatment and preventative strategies

During the two years the students will have the opportunity to visit health and social care providers within our community with a view to gaining work experience in Year 2.

Why this course

This course will give you the tools to enable you to further your progression within the Health and Social Care sector, be it in employment or further education.

Entry requirements

Minimum requirement of 5 A* – C GCSE grades including Maths and English; A desire to work within the Health, Social Care or Early Years services.
