The Media is a creative and fast-growing industry in which to work. This course allows you to explore different sectors of the media – creative media, performing arts, music and art, craft and design. Focusing on digital creative media you will learn skills which are used in the media industry, giving you a taste of jobs you can aspire to. Working in a team with other students you will learn skills in Video Production and Editing to enable you to make your own original short film. In Photography, you will learn techniques to create imaginative and exciting images. You will also learn how to create atmospheric sound and edit it to complement media products, in Audio Production classes. This course is perfect for anyone who is interested in the media who is considering which area to pursue.
You will learn how to use equipment, including DSLR cameras, and state of the art software as used in the media industry. This includes Adobe Premiere to edit film and Adobe Audition to edit sound. You will hear from speakers who work in the industry to find out how they got into their chosen field and what makes the media an excellent career choice. You will also go on trips to see different aspects of the creative arts sector for yourself.
2 E's at GCSE or equivalent, and an interest in the subject matter.
You can progress on to a Level 2 Digital Media Production course and then a Level 3 course which could prepare you for a foundation degree, apprenticeship or employment.
English and Maths will be built into your course if your grades are below 4/5.
