Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make-Up Level 3 Diploma at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College

Course description

Attendance - Full time three days a week over 1 year This qualification has been designed specifically to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in media, special effects and camouflage make-up. You will learn how to apply small prosthetic pieces and bald caps, style and fit postiche and the art of airbrush make-up.

You will study units such as:

  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon

  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries

  • Apply airbrush make-up to the face

  • Camouflage make-up

  • Media make-up

  • Fashion and photographic make-up

  • Style and fit postiche

  • Apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps

  • Wig services

  • Provide self-tanning

  • Create and cast small prosthetic pieces and bald caps

  • Design and apply face and body art

  • Fantasy hair design for performers

  • Additional Information

You will need to purchase salon wear, equipment, textbooks and a fee towards consumables used on the course.

Entry requirements

  • NVQ/VRQ Level 2 qualification in one of the following: Hair and Media Make up / Hairdressing / Beauty Therapy Relevant experience (for mature applicants) will be considered

2 GCSEs including English Language at Grade A* - D or equivalent Good literacy and Numeracy skills Interview
