Design Technology: Product Design 3Dā€“ As and A2 at Downend School

Course description

Product design combines creativity with manufacture skills. You will study a range of graphical techniques and communication methods coupled with working with a choice of material areas either resistant materials or more compliant materials such as cardboards and plastics. Coursework can be using a range of materials and processes depending on your area of interest.

AS

Unit 1 - Based primarily on Materials and Components

Unit 2 - Coursework divided up between the design portfolio and a practical manufacture in your material area of your choice.

A2

Unit 3 ā€“ Coursework - A single substantial design and make activity, divided up between the design portfolio and a practical manufacture in a material area of your choice.

Unit 4 ā€“ Based primarily on Design and Manufacture

Entry requirements

AS: Grade B in any GCSE technology area

A2: Grade D in Product Design
