Plumbing Studies Level 2 Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

Plumbing is a practical job that involves the fitting, service and repair of water pipes and heating systems in homes and businesses following technical drawings and plans. To become a qualified plumber and run your own business you will need to achieve a 3 plumbing qualification based on on-the-job experience. This course is ideal for candidates who want to work as plumbers or other related disciplines in the building services engineering sector. This qualification does not make candidates fully qualified plumbers, but it does form the first part of the qualification process before completing the performance elements in a work placement or as part of an apprenticeship. This Level 2 qualification is designed for new entrants to the plumbing industry, providing them with the basic skills and experience they need to progress to further study and eventually employment. Maths and English will be at the core of your studies, both of which are essential if you wish to pursue a career in the industry.

Entry requirements

Relevant Level 1 Qualification and Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English, or 4 GCSEs Grade A*-D including English, Maths and Practical Skills Assessment

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 2 qualification e.g 5 GCSE's grade A*-C. Also free to learners who are in receipt of JSA (Job Seekers Allowance) ESA ((Employment Support Allowance, (work related activity)) or Universal Credit (mandated). Where fees are payable you can set up a payment plan that best suits your needs

Future opportunities

This course will allow you to progress on a Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. You may also wish to continue your studies as part of an Apprenticeship.
