Painting and Decorating Diploma Level 1 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

Gloucestershire College's experienced tutors will show you how to paint the interior and exterior of a building. You will also learn the tricks of putting up wallpaper and also get the chance to explore the different paints available and the different results you can achieve with them. In addition you will be taught how to work in a safe environment and how to prepare surfaces for the paint finishes.

20% of your time will be spent in the classroom where you will develop your knowledge of the trade by learning the theory that underpins the projects you complete in the workshops. The tasks and projects you will complete at college build in complexity and difficulty as you progress enabling your skills and knowledge to be fully developed and tested to your own abilities

You will study:

  • Basic application with brush and roller
  • Hand skills
  • Setting out
  • Health and safety regulations

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade E or Entry 3 in English & Maths Functional Skills.

Future opportunities

On successful completion you may:

  • Progress on to a Modern Apprenticeship
  • Progress on to a full time Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating

Further information

Steel toe capped shoes/boots and sturdy clothing to protect your body will be required
