Course description

Scientists work in industry, the health service, government establishments and educational institutions.Fields of work include research and development and scientific analysis, At Dyson Perrins you will be taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers in our laboratories.
Your course of study will be intensely practical and you will learn wide ranging skills which will be valuable to you throughout your life.
You will:
* Learn about the basic principles underlying the application of biological, chemical, environmental and physical areas of science.
* Actively experience the science environment by visiting science related institutions.
* Develop important practical skills in science.
* Develop your communication, IT and number skills in a scientific setting.
In the Lower Sixth you will study 3 mandatory units as follows:
Unit 1 Fundamentals of Science
Unit 2 Working in the Science Industry
Unit 3 Practical Scientific Techniques
In the Upper Sixth you will study a further 3 units as follows:
Unit 11 - Physiology of Human Body Systems
Unit - Medical Physics Techniques
Unit - Microbiological Techniques

Entry requirements

5 GCSE passes at grade C, including Science (Applied, Additional or Separate Science) and Mathematics. Students also need to be able to write clearly, think logically and be able to apply science knowledge to real life scientific situations.
