HGV Academy at North Lindsey College

Course description

The academy comprises of a 50/50 work placement and college programme, you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the HGV repair industry and gain work experience at commercial garages. 

You will be put through an intensive training programme, with assessments and examinations. This will provide you with the skills and knowledge to progress on to an apprenticeship placement with an employer, using the skills you have already developed throughout the course.

- Routine Maintenance
- R&R Chassis Components
- Lub, Cooling & Mechanical
- Fuel injection, Air & Exhaust
- Electrical Components
- Chassis Components

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs grade D or above including maths and English.


You will have practical assessments, as well as an online portfolio and online tests.

Future opportunities

Motor Vehicle is a great area for students who want to enter this sector; the programmes on offer will put you on the road to a rewarding career in the motor industry. After completing the Heavy Vehicle Academy you will be on track to progress on to university, an apprenticeship or employment.
