A Level Art and Design at Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School

Course description

The Art and Design A Level course provides students with opportunites to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures in practical, critical ad contextual forms. It is made up of 4 modular units which embrace a wide range of study, research and experimentation over a variety of disciplines within the Art, Craft and Design field. Students follow the (ARTA) which offers huge flexibility and opportunites for creative development.

Students will develop drawing skills, as drawing is an essential skills, central to Art and Design.

Entry requirements

A Level Art students are required to have

  • GCSE B grade or above in Art
  • A real interest in Art
  • Drawing ability
  • An ability to work independently
  • A willingness to explore various techniques, processes, media and ideas with an open mind
  • A hard working approach to the subject
  • An ability to be innovative and original.
