Course description

Chemistry is an essential science that deals with the behaviour and development of materials and the atomic and molecular interpretation of the world around us. An understanding of Chemistry will allow us to tackle the important global issues of today, including the environment and energy. The subject also plays a vital role in the development of new technologies, bringing together fundamental aspects of fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Engineering and Geography. Chemistry is an essential requirement for some courses such as Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry and Pharmacy, but the high level of transferrable skills makes it a well-respected qualification, offering a clear indication of academic ability, which is highly valued by potential employers.

    • Turton Sixth Form is located on Chapeltown Road, Bromley Cross.  The college is across the road from Bromley Cross train station, and is on a direct line 8 minutes from Bolton.  Buses from Bradshaw, Sharples, Smithills, Edgworth, Belmont and Astley Bridge regularly run past the school.
