Course description

Mandatory Units: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace; Mathematics for Technicians; Electrical and Electronic Principles. Specialist Units: Mechanical Workshop and Manufacturing, Applications of Mechanical Systems in Engineering; Engineering Drawing for Technicians; Selecting and Using Programmable Controllers. AS Maths and GCSE English where appropriate.

Entry requirements

You must have 5 GCSE subjects at Grade C or above which will include Maths. Other suitable subjects would include; English, Science, Physics, Design and Technology. Alternative qualifications include; BTEC First in Engineering at least Merit and maths at grade C. Alternative pathways exist for mature applicants.

Assessment

Your work will be continuously assessed throughout the course. The assessment is based on set assignments, practical and written evidence that you will be asked to complete with set deadlines.

Financial information

Students will be expected to provide their own overalls, safety shoes and contribute to the cost of any additional enrichment activities.
