Course description

This course is an ideal first step towards a career in carpentry and joinery. You will learn and practise a range of skills in wood occupations, whilst also developing skills which will prepare you for entering employment in a construction or a furniture related craft.

Our construction centre is the perfect place for you to develop your skills and knowledge of the carpentry and joinery professions. Fully equipped workshops with industry standard equipment, combined with tutors who have a wealth of industry experience, will help you get to grips with this fast-paced industry.

Entry requirements

You'll need literacy and numeracy at entry level 3 or above and you will be initially assessed using our online assessment at interview.

Assessment

Assessment will be carried out through paper based, on-line tests and practical skill based assessments.

Future opportunities

You could progress on to a level 2 course in wood occupations or find entry level employment.
